One Week!

One week from today at approximately 4:38 (1638 for you military persons) Josiah and I will be leaving solid ground on one continent and, hopefully, finding it some 36 hours later in another.  Of course, this is subjective to Airline Standard Time which is plus/minus “some time” to maybe never :0)  Oh well, we know the One Who came up with time!

These last couple of days with all the packing, I have been reminded of another nomad who did a lot of packing and repacking.  I have been thinking about a wanderer who had little to show for his trust except promises of great things to come.  Abraham.  How fitting he should be referenced in the hall of fame as one who sought a homeland.  The same homeland we also seek.

But we have seen many of these promises fulfilled and we stand in the midst of a great company who has gone before us.  Someday I am hoping to say without doubt, “I go to my fathers in whose great company I shall not now be ashamed.”

The Nitty Gritty of Travel Arrangments...How Exciting :0)

Lots of paperwork, for me, nearly always involves scrambling.  I do a lot at work and now I get to do it at home too – trying to ensure VISAs, last minute travel changes, and other miscellaneous errands are resolved.   But we are slowly and surely checking things off our list.  For those of you who didn’t hear, last Friday we got an email stating that our first flight had been cancelled and if I would please, quickly, reschedule that would be ideal.  PTL, that has been worked out!  And as a perk, we will now be able to spend a few more hours with Josh, Madi and their two boys before leaving from Atlanta.
But that is not the only good thing our Father has put in place.  We got word from AWANA this week that yes, they have 1,772 clubs in Bangladesh.  Over 100,000 children attend club and enjoy games and hear the good news every week!   And the nearest club to us is at the compound!  In addition, our AWANA contact was able to provide a short list of items we can take to them including hard candies, tootsie rolls, crayons, and small erasers.  So we will also be taking supplies for them as well – and I am just a little giddy to see what else He has planned.

But for now, today has already been dedicated to deciphering the highly specified code of international checked and carry one baggage.  And, unfortunately, likely, several re-packs.  Oh well -- it's going to be a great day!
Blessings to all!

Unavoidable Evil ;0)

Three tortuous hours.  That is how long we spent today shopping for clothes, food, and supplies (including mosquito nets which are surprisingly rare in the Albuquerque area :0).  Shopping, in my opinion, is an unavoidable evil when it comes to international (and even extended domestic) travel.  But, PTL, that part of our trip is completed; except for the aforementioned mosquito net of which we were only able to locate one which will crucial for our trip to Bangladesh.

Thank you all for your support.  We are so grateful for your friendship and cannot wait to begin sharing stories of our trip with you here and soon in person.

Cookies

Good morning and welcome to our blog!

This is not my first post but I have just a few housekeeping items to address real quick.  For legal reasons I have been told that I need to let you know about cookies.

This is very challenging for me because I hardly know what cookies are let alone how this site uses them.  I personally do not use any cookies (except for chocolate chip once in a while :0) but Google does including (but possibly not limited to) Google Analytics and AdSense cookies.

Hopefully that will make the lawyers happy.

Stay tune for my first "real post" Friday, May 19th.
